MINE tells the story of individuals who are connected by two things:

the aftermath of Katrina and their love of animals. After this unprecedented

natural disaster, thousands of pets are dispatched to

new homes despite the fact that their displaced guardians still desperately

want them. Naturally, their adoptive guardians forge strong

bonds with their new pets while nurturing them back to health from

the traumas they suffered during and after the storm.

Disputes arise over who is the rightful "owner" and what is right for

the animal. When pets are loved like family, but are legal “property,”

who looks out for the best interest of the animals? Set in a post-

Katrina landscape of poverty and loss, MINE examines an intensely emotional situation with no simple resolution.
